Welcome to Sturminster Newton

Sturminster Newton is the fourth largest town in North Dorset, behind Blandford, Gillingham and Shaftesbury. The towns population in 2011 was just under 5000, today it is estimated to be closer to 6000.

The town centre retains a quaint feeling with its plethora of period buildings, including well over 100 listed buildings in the town. The town is largely situated to the North of the River Stour, a smaller part of the town is found to the south of the River along the A357. To the south of the town is the North Dorset Business Park, a small modern business park home to Olives et al and Sturminster Building Supplies to name just a couple of businesses.

In the main town, Butts Pond Industrial Estate is home to numerous businesses including Stalbridge Linen and Northover Fuels etc.

Unusually for a town of its size, Sturminster Newton does not have a large supermarket or a petrol station, the nearest supermarket is the independent Dikes in nearby Stalbridge, however most locals visit either Blandford or Shaftesbury for a wider choice of supermarket and shops.

Looking at the property market in the town, there is a good mix of housing, the town has grown in modern years, with several large developments to the northern parts of the town. There is normally a good supply of property available at any one time for sale and to let.
