Winterborne Houghton is a small-scale village approximately 5 miles to the northeast of Blandford Forum, forming part of the area known as the Winterborne Valley, with neighbouring villages including Winterborne Stickland, Winterborne Whitechurch and Winterborne Kingston.

The village is currently made up of 85 houses, with 20 within the conservation area within the centre of the village, in total there are 6 listed buildings in the village, including St Andrew’s church. The village is largely linear in design with the village road roughly following the course of the winterborne from which the village takes its name.

The village is unusual in that there are no house numbers, all the houses are named, the village parish council provide this handy map to help visitors and delivery persons locate the houses, which has no doubt helped numerous visitors over the years.

The main access to the village is via Winterborne Stickland on the aptly named water lane, the village can also be accessed via a narrow country road via Bulbarrow (Bulbarrow Road, known locally as ‘The Hollow’), however in the winter months this road can be treacherous at times!

The village is known locally for its Fish Farm, Houghton Springs Fish Farm which is renowned for its high quality Trout and Arctic Char. For more information on the village, the village has its own website which is a great resource of local information.

Given the small scale of the village, its probably not suprising that the availability of properties for sale or rent are few and far between.
